The basics

The basics.

What exactly is a Nuppact?

+

A private financial agreement for couples: a signed contract between two individuals that records full financial disclosure and shared intentions across property, money, debts, business, inheritance, pensions and parenting. Not a prenup. Not a template. A private contract, built together, with optional annual renewal.

Is a Nuppact enforceable?

+

Nuppact is a private contract between two individuals. Private contracts are recognised in law in most jurisdictions. Whether specific terms are enforced by a court depends on jurisdiction and circumstances, just like any contract, and particularly where family-law courts retain discretionary powers. Most couples never need a court. This is what they use instead.

How is this different from a prenup?

+

A prenup requires specific timing (before marriage), independent legal advice, and other procedural requirements to carry weight. A private contract has none of those constraints. It can be created at any point in a relationship, by married or unmarried couples, and rests on the standard requirements of contract law: offer, acceptance, consideration, and absence of duress. Nuppact satisfies all four.

Who is it for?

+

Engaged, married, cohabiting, blended families, second marriages, couples buying property, couples after a baby or inheritance or business, couples in an amicable separation. Open to any two competent adults: moment-based, not stage-based.

Process & timing.

How long does it take?

+

Most couples complete onboarding and disclosure in one sitting (about 30–90 minutes), then build the agreement over a few sessions. Auto-saves between sessions; pick up where you left off.

What's a comprehension check?

+

Before signing, each partner answers short questions that confirm understanding of key terms; your responses are logged alongside your signature. Both signers demonstrably understood what they were signing, and that strengthens the contract.

What if we disagree on something?

+

We don't force consensus. Where you disagree, we record both positions and what you've agreed to revisit. Many couples find that more useful than pretending.

Money & legal

Money & legal.

How much does it cost?

+

$79 one-time per couple to execute the contract. $5 per couple per year to renew. That's it. No subscriptions, no per-question fees, no lawyer matching.

Should we see a lawyer?

+

Where significant assets, pensions, or international property are involved, yes. Nuppact does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for independent legal counsel. We deliberately don't match you with lawyers; you choose your own.

What about pensions?

+

Disclose the most recent value; you record your intentions on offsetting or sharing. A pension sharing order requires a court, so Nuppact records intentions only, and says so clearly.

Does it work outside the US?

+

Yes. Nuppact is a private contract between two adults, and that concept is recognised in most jurisdictions. Enforceability of specific terms varies by country. For cross-border situations or significant international assets we recommend independent legal advice.

Is my data private?

+

Your contract is encrypted at rest and in transit. Only you and your partner can access it. We never sell data and we don't share it with third parties without your permission.
